20th century changes in temperature and rainfall in New South Wales
نویسنده
چکیده
Mean minimum temperatures increased across virtually all of Australia during the 20th century (Torok and Nicholls 1996). Mean maximum temperatures also increased over most of the country, but decreased in central and eastern New South Wales, and isolated parts of southern Queensland (Fig. 1). A high-quality temperature dataset (Della-Marta et al. 2004), based on a dataset originally developed by Torok and Nicholls (1996), is used here, along with historical rainfall datasets, to investigate the nature of this cooling. Australian rainfall increased rapidly and substantially in the middle of the 20th century (Coughlan Aust. Met. Mag. 53 (2004) 263-268

متن کاملTwentieth century trends in moisture advection over Australia
We have examined some of the characteristics of moisture advection and its relation to precipitation over Australia. Seasonal extremes of moisture advection have changed considerably during the latter part of the 20th century. Analysis of its skewness reveals that the relative occurrence of these events has increased. A kurtosis analysis shows that there has been a geographical shift of where t...
متن کاملEvaluation of the performance of the CMIP5 General Circulation Models in predicting the Indian Ocean Monsoon precipitation over south Sistan and Baluchestan, using the past hydrological changes in the region
1-Introduction Climate change refers to any significant change in the existing mean climatic conditions within a certain time period (Jana and Majumder, 2010; Giorgi, 2006). Earth's climate change through history has happened (Nakicenovic et al., 2000; Bytnerowicz et al., 2007). 2-Materials and methods In this study, daily precipitation and daily maximum (Tmax) and daily minimum (Tmin) tempera...
متن کاملImpacts of 20th century aerosol emissions on the South Asian monsoon in the CMIP5 models
Comparison of single-forcing varieties of 20th century historical experiments in a subset of models from the Fifth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) reveals that South Asian summer monsoon rainfall increases towards the present day in Greenhouse Gas (GHG)-only experiments with respect to pre-industrial levels, while it decreases in anthropogenic aerosol-only experiments. Comparison ...

This paper investigated the response of major food crop yields namely beans, cassava, Irish potatoes, maize and sweet potatoes to ongoing changes in climate inRwanda. The projected daily precipitation and temperature data for the period2000-2050 used in this study were generated by stochastic weather generator(LARS-WG) from daily raw data for the period 1961 -2000. These data werecollected from ...
